Chapter 9 - Cause and Effect Essay
We are currently working on our second essay in class. The essay is supposed to be a cause and effect essay. Chapter 9 in the St. Martins Guide to Writing. The reading did give me good insight on how to structure my essay, but I must say Im not comfortable with it yet. Everyone in class was asked to pick an activist or activist group to do our essay on. I chose to do mine on the National Rifle Association. I have to admit I found it hard trying to decide what exactly to write about. I ended up explaining the NRA's association with gun rights vs gun control and the role they play in the legislative process to protect our second amendment right.

Our assignment this week was to write a 4-6 page essay on any kind of landmark. The essay had to be in MLA format. MLA is covered in on pages 667-716 in the Little Brown Handbook. Something specific I learned when doing this assignment is how specific the works cited page has to be. I also learned that MLA stands for the Modern Language Association.
Last week in English class, our teacher asked us to blog about our opinions of tattoos. Personally, tattoos aren't for me. If I were to ever get a tattoo, it would have to have some type of serious personal meaning to me or my life. I don't judge people who do have several tattoos. I feel it is a way for people to express themselves or their beliefs. Tattoos can also add an element of attractiveness or sexiness to a person, and there are several mean and women who find serious sex appeal to them. I cant see my personal opinion changing anytime soon, and seriously doubt I will ever get one.
